- Credit cards maxed out
- Getting nowhere making minimum monthly payments
- Behind on rent or mortgage payments
- Disconnect notices
- Past due accounts

- Overdrawing your checking account
- Threatening letters or phone calls
Our counselors can help you implement a successful debt reduction plan that can:

- Develop a spending plan that works with your income/expenses
- Act on your behalf with creditors
- Pay your bills without additional borrowing
- Build up your credit history

The first credit counseling session is a in-depth look at your financial situation. You and your counselor will develop a plan of action to resolve your financial issues. Your plan of action may include referrals to community resources, changes to your lifestyle, and ways to decrease monthly expenses.
Debt Management Program
If you are struggling with credit card or unsecured debt, a debt management program may be right for you. Family Management Financial Solutions has worked with creditors to accept reduced monthly payments, lower the interest rate, stop late and over the limit fees, and “re-age” the account so that they can report you as current on your credit report.
When you participate in the debt management program, you will meet with one of our certified counselors to establish a monthly payment that will be acceptable to each individual creditor. Your monthly payment is paid directly to FMFS and we disperse the money directly to your creditors. A debt management program allows you to make one monthly payment, can stop collection calls and allows you to become debt free, while educating you on increasing your credit score.
Family Management Financial Solutions is licensed by the State of Iowa Division of Banking and has an annual independent audit. Our knowledgeable and friendly staff is here to answer any questions you may have.
Budget Counseling
FMFS can help you create a well-designed, realistic spending plan that will assist you in reaching your financial goals. Our certified counselors will listen to your concerns, provide an honest assessment of your financial situation, help you identify your financial goals and work with you to develop a plan to meet your goals. Following your meeting with the certified counselor, you can choose to do it on your own, or enlist the help of FMFS in finding your FINANCIAL TRUTH.
Representative Payee Services
FMFS has been an approved nonprofit organizational representative payee since 1992. We offer a personalized approach in managing your monthly benefits to ensure that your basic needs, such as rent and utilities, have been met. We provide our clients with spending money on a weekly basis, that can be direct deposited into their personal bank account, mailed, or picked up in our office. FMFS sends a detailed monthly statement to each client for their review. We also assist with DHS, energy assistance, and rent rebate applications.
Our financial counselors will work with the beneficiary to establish financial goals so that ultimately they can achieve financial independence. We are knowledgeable in other social service programs that may be available to the beneficiary and can assist them with completing the necessary applications, including rent rebate & energy assistance forms.
